Live, laugh, Lidl: budget supermarket to host drag brunches with Hunsnet

In what might be among the more amusing partnerships in recent years, the budget supermarket Lidl has teamed up with internet giants Hunsnet to launch a series of “Live, Laugh, Lidl” drag brunches.

The brunches are “set to slay” in London and Manchester next month, an announcement said, with the supermarket soirées offering a “visual and literal feast”. In London, the brunch will be hosted at Colours Hoxton, in Hoxton Square, from noon till mid-afternoon on Sunday October 19. Tickets will be £6.49.

The shows will include live performances alongside food and drink. As part of the food offer, dubbed “Canapé - you stay!”, will be crispy potato terrines, couture croquettes, and fried chicken burgers, and to drink, cocktails and Lidl’s own extra dry rosé prosecco.

Hunsnet will be taking charge of the drag elements, or “hundamentals”, and shows will also include Lidl-themed bingo, celebrity appearances, goodie bags and “cult-status middle aisle prizes”.

Gareth Howells, founder of Hunsnet, which has more than 250,000 followers on Instagram, said: “We are absolutely delighted to partner with Lidl for the #LiveLaughLidl brunch drag series.

“As someone who heads down to my local Lidl to get a cheeky bottle of fizz on a Friday, it’s my most natural collaboration to date. Grab your girls and guys, and join me and a few VERY special A-list hun guests to eat, sing and party.”

The news follows Lidl’s London Fashion Week pop-up, which proved popular for its viral croissant bag.
