Wet weather is likely across parts of Queensland this weekend and into summer. Here's how to prepare an emergency kit
The best time to prepare for a wet weather event is before the dark clouds begin to gather.
The Queensland government has suggested each household have an up-to-date disaster plan and emergency kit.
The ABC's Jay Bowman has put together a guide on what's recommended to have on hand in the case of a flood emergency.

Murray River flow forecasts of 120GL per day into South Australia by early December
Flood planners and engineers have found two levee banks in the Riverland town of Renmark are "not fit for purpose" and require urgent repairs.
The South Australian State Emergency Service and the Department for Environment and Water are in the Riverland, surveying the region's levee banks.
It comes after Murray River flow forecasts of 120GL per day into South Australia by early December were released on Wednesday.
Of particular concern to authorities were two flood banks in Renmark, on Hale Street and behind the town's hospital, which engineers visited yesterday.
Department for Environment and Water water delivery manager Chrissie Bloss said the engineers concluded the levee banks were "not fit for purpose" to hold back water for a period of time.

Some schools in Tasmania ask students to stay home after flood-damaged bridge causes traffic chaos
The Tasmanian government believes the Bass Highway in the north-west will be fully reopened within days, after extensive flood damage to a bridge.
The Cam River Bridge at Somerset is down to one lane causing lengthy delays on the main route between Burnie and Wynyard.
Motorists queued for hours this morning and some schools asked students to stay home.
Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson says engineering advice indicates the closure may not be as long as first feared.
"I don't expect it to be weeks, I do expect it to be days. But I have to be guided by the engineers advice on this. We're not in any position to cut corners on safety."

Still 'quite a way to go' for communities on the Murray River
The Victorian State Emergency Service says flooding will later spread to Torrumbarry and areas near Cohuna and all the way through to Swan Hill.
Chief Operations Officer Tim Wiebush says it'll eventually spread all the way up the state's north.
"Mildura at this early stage we're indicating could be seeing that flood levels in and around the middle of November but will again extend for several weeks through to the end of November, so we've still got quite a way to go for those communities on the Murray River."

Low lying areas of Moree and areas in North Gunnedah have been asked to prepare to evacuate
You should monitor the situation and prepare to evacuate so that you can safely evacuate when instructed to do so by NSW SES. Wherever possible, you should prepare to stay with family or friends, or make other accommodation arrangements.
If you remain in the area, you may become trapped without power, water, and other essential services. It may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you.

Pictures show roads starting to go under in parts of Queensland
Reporting by Felicity Ripper
Regional council cameras have captured water building through Queensland's southern interior with some roads beginning to go under.
Flood cameras across the Lockyer Valley on Friday afternoon showed water across roads from Junction View to Helidon and Glen Cairn.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council issued a weather update stating it had moved to “Alert” status ahead of a wet weekend.
The council’s online “Disaster Dashboard” was warning of road closures due to flooding at more than a dozen locations across the region.

A bird's-eye view of the 'unprecedented' flooding in Victoria
In case you missed it, story below from Elise Kinsella shows, through aerial photos, just how devastating the floods have been.
The Salvation Army's Major Bruce Harmer says there's one word he can think of to describe the scale of damage.
"I think the word unprecedented is used far too often these days but it is the word which would describe what is happening at the moment," he says.

Flooding has left thick mud and mosquitos at Geelong
The flood impact in Victoria's south-west has been nowhere near as serious as that in the north.
Still, this shot of a tree in the park at Geelong by Rachel Clayton gives a sense of how high the water rose last week.
She says there's thick mud all along the river paths and carparks, and mosquitos "everywhere".

Queensland weekend weather forecast includes heavy rainfall, severe storms
Heavy rain looks set to lash large parts of Queensland this weekend as the weather bureau issues several flash flooding and severe thunderstorm warnings for central and southern parts of the state.
The Bureau of Meteorology has placed most of central and southern Queensland on flood watch as residents in the Wide Bay, Burnett and the state's south-eastern forecast districts brace for potential flooding.
The BOM said severe storms were likely to produce heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding in Gympie, Cooroy, Imbil, Nambour and Rainbow Beach.
Severe thunderstorm warnings have also been issued with heavy rainfall, large hailstones and damaging winds expected across much of central Queensland.

NSW SES carries out nine flood rescues overnight and this morning as flash flooding continues
As we heard a short time ago, communities in the north-west are grappling with severe storms and flash flooding.
Ken Murphy, Chief Superindendent of the New South Wales SES, says nine flood rescues were carried out overnight and this morning.
"There were two people who were rescued from a home, a number of those other rescues involved people who have had vehicles that have entered flood waters and once again, we want to reinforce the message of that if it is flooded, forget it."

An update from Kerang in Victoria's north
An update on Kerang in northern Victoria, which is about to be cut off for 7-10 days.
Some homes outside Kerang's levee are likely to be hit by flooding, but authorities expect the township will be protected.
Here's what ABC reporter Tyrone Dalton has just heard from the local SES:
The town isn't cut off just yet, but authorities have warned it is too late to leave.
The Murray Valley Highway has been closed for a couple of days now, and now the twin bridges above the Loddon River on the way out of Kerang heading to Swan Hill are closed (Wellington Street/Murray Valley Highway).
