Another week of LIV Golf means another week of mega-money on offer, as the breakaway circuit returns for a first ever event in Australia that gets underway on Friday.
CEO Greg Norman has brought the Saudi-funded series to his homeland, with LIV's 48 stars teeing it up at The Grange in Adelaide. The week is set to one of the breakaway league's biggest yet, with a sell-out crowd of over 60,000 fans expected across the week.
There is no doubt LIV Golf has split the opinion of golf fans across the United States on Europe, but the Saudi-backed circuit seems to have gathered some real support down under.
The favourite heading into the event is Cam Smith, as he returns to compete on home soil. The tournament is an extra special one for the Open champion, having announced himself as Australia's star man in the golfing world over recent years.
And the Ripper GC captain is relishing the chance to perform in front of his home crowd. Per Perth Now, he said: "For all the boys it’s nice to be back in Australia, see some friends and family and hopefully we can come out with a victory this weekend.
“Aussie golf is so much different to everywhere else around the world. For us, it’s nice to get that firm and short grass. A few of the other boys might not like it so much. So many good memories on Australian golf courses and everyone feels comfy.”
Smith will no doubt be keen to secure victory on his return to his homeland, and taking home the £3.2 million prize. As always on the breakaway circuit huge sums are on offer across the week. £16million is split across the individual event, whilst £4 million is awarded to the top three teams.
With no cut in play across the three day event, all 48 players will take home a chunk of the prize pot. Here is a look at the full purse ahead of the action getting underway.
