Little north Liverpool café customers are travelling miles to visit

People are travelling for miles to get their hands on goods from a north Liverpool cafe.

Planet Health, on Warbreck Moor, Aintree, has become known for being one of the go to places in the region for fresh juice and healthy meals. Owner Mehdi Akbarikhadem said that his fresh creations are “supreme” and there’s nothing like them “anywhere in Liverpool”.

He said people regularly travel from outside of the area and are often asking him to open a Planet Health café near them.

The 29-year-old, from Norris Green, told the ECHO: “Our drinks are supreme, they are one of the top drinks, you can't get anything like them anywhere in Liverpool. We do fresh juices and fresh smoothies, so you can only get them at Planet Health, they’re so unique.

“People come from all over and outside of the area, we get a lot of returning customers from Maghull, Crosby, all over Liverpool.

“They just travel to us because they haven't found anything better. They’re always asking us ‘please can you open somewhere closer to us so we don’t need to travel.’”

The health and nutrition graduate was working as a support worker when he decided to take the plunge and open his own business in 2019. Mehdi said he was often helping people through his work by showing them healthy but tasty meal options.

He realised that there was a gap in the market and turned his passion into Planet Health. Mehdi added: “At first , it was a small menu and I found customers were surprised at how these meals could be healthy by changing how we’re cooking them, using low fats, alternatives, lean meat, and yeah that’s how it kind of started.

“Most of the meals on the menu were basically the food and drinks I was making for myself at home, everything was created by myself with my research in mind, tasty but low calorie and as healthy as possible.”

As the cafe became more popular, the menu grew and soon enough Planet Health was offering a delivery service too. Mehdi said he believes the location of the cafe has helped it gain a loyal customer base.

He said: “I’m a regular gym goer myself and go to the gym just up the road. I realised there are many gyms in the area and businesses such as hairdressers.

“These are the sort of places and people that want to not only look after their bodies but their health so I knew there was a demand for healthy options.

“We also worked hard to create an atmosphere everyone loves. The customers that come not only come for food they come for the really comfortable setting.

“They just love the atmosphere as well in terms of the service. We've got a nice area where people can sit down and chill and enjoy the food.”
