Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall confesses beau Jordan Stephens is reason for name change

During a private bash at the London Reign on Sunday, Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall made a shocking revelation that has shaken the core of the Little Mix fandom.

While marking the end of the band’s Confetti tour at the wrap party before heading off on their hiatus, Jade admitted that Rizzle Kicks member and boyfriend Jordan Stephens was responsible for their significant name change.

This happened when a guest shouted “Rhythmix” during the show, to which Jade took to the mic and responded: “Shout out to my boyfriend who made us actually change our name in 2011. It was his fault, yeah!”

The group was famously formed on the X Factor in 2011, as they were initially called Rhythmix during the girlband’s stint on the show.

However, after a Brighton-based charity that offers opportunities for young people, also named Rhythmix, threatened legal action, this caused the group to change their name.

The Little Mix members were seen in videos that were circulated across social media, where they were seen emotionally addressing friends and family on the ‘bittersweet’ hiatus.

Jade said: "We love each other so much. We are sisters. We are family.

"It is very bittersweet but it is the best time to do this because we are stronger than ever.

"We are happier than ever. And we're already counting down to the reunion, so don't worry about it!"

Other notable guests who made a guest appearance at the party included fellow X Factor alums Joe McElderry and Marcus Collins, as well as singer singer Jess Glynne.

More videos posted online demonstrated the girls celebrating in style as they mingled with friends and family and twerked the night away.

One clip even showed the girls standing on stage as they danced to their famous tunes and another clip revealed Jade even shaking their booty for the crowd that only the best of divas can emulate.

The tour wrap party followed the band’s final performance at London’s O2 Area, appropriately titled The Last Show (for now…) where the extravagant send-off was streamed globally online for all of the Mixers to view with glee.

Famously donning their Confetti themed neon coloured stage costumes as an ensemble, Jade, Perrie and Leigh Anne were overlooking the crowd as they stood high and defiant on a lifted platform to serenade their fans one more time, until they took their final bows.

After Jesy Nelson quit the band in 2020, the group became a trio; however the girls have insisted that they will continue to support one another during what they believe is a “necessary change” for the group, while maintaining their “strong bond” .

Hiatus or not, the next chapter for all three women individually will certainly continue to pique the interests of many, as fans can only patiently wait for when the time comes until the next her-storic Little Mix reunion arrives.
