Little Mix star Perrie Edwards shed a tear as she delivered a special shout out to her home crowd in Newcastle on Friday night.
After it was significantly delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the group’s Confetti tour finally kicked off in Belfast last weekend, before heading to Dublin. Stop number three for Perrie and bandmates Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock was the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, with the venue being a particularly poignant one for South Shields singers Perrie and Jade.
Performing on home turf for the first time in well over two years, the last occasion being Little Mix's LM5 tour in 2019, the local lasses looked very moved at being back on Tyneside and Perrie shed a tear as she spoke to the crowd about why it was such a special moment for her.

She said: “Jade, we came here a lot of times. To see our favourite bands, all our favourite artists. And I used to go to a college literally just around the corner. And back then, I was just a college girl with a big dream.”
Starting to tear up, Perrie added: “Why am I getting dead emotional?” as she reached over to Jade. Managing to keep composure, Perrie then commented: “We made it! And we just feel so grateful to be on this stage performing for you guys. And if anyone in the audience tonight has a dream, you can achieve it if you work hard.”
She ended her speech with a link into the next track on the Little Mix setlist, saying: “Guys, I’m crying but this next song is Happiness.”
Little Mix delighted their captive audience with their first of three shows in Newcastle over Easter weekend. The setlist included smash hits like show opener Shout Out To My Ex and encore Sweet Melody, as well a reworked versions of Woman Like Me and Salute.
