Little-known royal Lady Amelia Windsor pays her respects at the Queen's funeral

Among the 2,000 guests who attended the Queen's funeral today was one lesser-known royal, sat just two rows behind Prince William, Princess Kate and their young children George and Charlotte. Lady Amelia Windsor is the second and youngest daughter of George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews.

The 27-year-old, who has been dubbed 'Britain's most beautiful royal', was dressed in all black with dainty earrings and a mourning veil covering the top half of her face. She paid her respects to Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey, sat beside her older sister Lady Marina and her older brother Edward Windsor.

The three siblings are the grandchildren of the Queen's first cousin, the Duke of Kent, and attended the state funeral of Her Majesty alongside family members, prime ministers and celebrities from around the world.

Amelia, who goes by the nickname Mel, is not a working royal but is technically 43rd in line to the throne.

This makes her the Queen's first cousin, twice removed and a third cousin of Princes William and Harry.

During her childhood and teenage years, she made several appearances on the Buckingham Palace balcony at events such as Trooping the Colour.

But it wasn't until 2016 that she really made a name for herself after gracing the cover of high society magazine Tatler.

And the fashion industry seems to agree as she signed to top agency Storm Models, which discovered the likes of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne.

She's walked in shows for fashion brands such as Dolce and Gabbana, has been the face of make-up brand Illamasqua and is often spotted on the front row at fashion shows across the world.

Meanwhile, she's also worked behind the scenes for brands such as Azzedine Alaia and Bvlgari and spoken of her love for eco-conscious fashion.

She told the Telegraph in 2018: "We're all aware of the huge plastic crisis and the effect it's having on our planet. Fashion is a key role in that, but then also there are ways we can deal with it.

"Stella McCartney is someone to look up to in that sense, she makes the bigger point in her collection that you can be sustainable and stylish.

"That should be something that everyone looks for when they shop now."

In 2018, she hit the headlines when it was reported she did not receive an invite to Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle - and neither did her sister.

A friend told the Sun at the time: "They were a little surprised not to be invited as they were looking forward to going.

"Perhaps Harry just wanted to keep the family invited to a small number or maybe he didn’t want anyone upstaging the bride."

But the next year, she did attend the wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor.
