A reminder has been issued to drivers that they could be slammed with fines should they venture into a nightspot no-go zone.
Motorists could be hit with a £50 fine should they drive along Ayr’s Boswell Park between the hours of 12am and 4am on Sunday morning.
The strip of road is a popular pick-up point for revellers exiting the town's nightclubs and late-night boozers.
Police first placed a Live Order banning vehicles with the exception of emergency services or taxis in 2012 due to safety reasons.
But recently it emerged that fly motorists were not following the traffic restrictions and “posing a risk” to people in the area.
Now as party season approaches local officers have started a clampdown and have reminder drivers that the non-endorsable fines will come into force.
South Ayrshire Police issued a reminder of the fines via social media last week.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The order has actually has been in place since 2012 when Safe Ayr, the multi-partner agency initiative aimed at keeping people safe, especially those involved in the night-time economy, was implemented.
“Since 2019 we have been working with our partners within the community to keep the communities of South Ayrshire safe as part of Operation Inverand following feedback from partner agencies, it emerged that a number of road users were not adhering to the traffic restrictions in the Boswell Park area, posing a risk to people involved in the night time economy in the area.
“We would like to reminder people that the order is in place and that the restrictions would be enforced.”
