A LITTLE girl was taken to hospital with leg injuries after she was hit by a four-wheel-drive on Birubi Beach on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the entrance near Gan Gan Road at Anna Bay at about 12pm on October 6 after reports a child had been struck by a vehicle.
Port Stephens Hunter police found at the scene a seven-year-old girl had been hit by a four-wheel-drive on the beach.
Ambulance paramedics were also tasked to the scene, north of Newcastle, and treated the girl before taking her to hospital for treatment.
Police said she suffered leg injuries in the incident.
Police were told the woman behind the wheel of the four-wheel-drive at the time was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Police investigations into the incident were continuing on Monday.
Birubi Beach is one of the gateways for four-wheel drive vehicles to the renowned Worimi Conservation Lands, one of the largest coastal dune driving areas in NSW.
