Lisburn crash sees two patients taken to hospital

Two people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Lisburn on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services attended the scene on April 18 and police had advised motorists to avoid the Old Ballynahinch Road.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said two patients were taken to hospital by ambulance.

A NIAS spokesperson said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 07:35 on Tuesday, 18 April 2023 following reports of an RTC in the Old Ballynahinch Road Area, Lisburn.

"NIAS despatched 3 Ambulances, an Officer and the HEMS Team attended by road.

"One patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children by Ambulance & one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by Ambulance."

In an update, a PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised that the Old Ballynahinch Road, Lisburn has reopened following an earlier vehicle road traffic collision."

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the NIFRS received a call at 8.14am on Tuesday, April 18, to attend Saintfield Road, Lisburn.

The spokesperson added: "1 Fire Appliance from Central Fire Station and 2 Fire Appliances from Lisburn Fire Station attended the incident.

"Firefighters were called to a 2 vehicle road traffic collision. One casualty was rescued by Firefighters and two other casualties were out on arrival.

"All 3 causalities were left in the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Firefighters made the scene safe and left the incident at 9.27am."
