Lisa Maffia has said her mum is battling cancer again, two years after revealing her cervical cancer had spread all over her body and become terminal.
The So Solid Crew star, 43, took to Instagram to share the sad news with her 84.2k followers. She posted an image of the pair on her Stories and wrote: "Tonight my prayers are for my mum, fighting cancer again.
"For anyone that believes in the power of pray, say a little pray for mumma maffia tonight for me. Thank you all."
In 2020, the singer urged fans to attend smear tests after revealing her mum Shirley had missed hers for five years. She confessed her cancer at the time was only spotted after she had been suffering from a pain in her leg and constant bleeding.
Speaking to The Sun at the time, Lisa said: "She’s quite a proud and self-conscious person and gets embarrassed. Going to the doctors and getting a smear she thought it was quite invasive and she put it off."
She added: "Cancer can grow so quickly, by the time she started to get an ache in her leg and the constant bleeding that alerted her to go to the doctors - it was two years too late.
"She had cervical cancer and it had spread to her lymph node glands and collar bone."
Shirley's battle with cancer saw her have so much chemotherapy and radiotherapy that she lost a kidney. She went into remission for seven years but the cancer came back all over her body.
The latest update comes months after the family suffered heartbreak after Lisa's one-year-old cousin drowned in a friend's hot tub after entering to try to pick up a toy spade.
An inquest found that the tot's death was a tragic accident. A court heard how Jetson Maffia-Kerbey's dad, Nigel, was chatting to his friend in the garden at the time his son entered the hot tub, with the terrible accident happening within minutes.
Jetson was three months shy of his second birthday when he died on June 13 2022.
