Officials of the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) have seized 728 bottles of Non-Duty Paid Liquor (NDPL), allegedly smuggled from Haryana, according to K.V. Ramakrishna Prasad, NTR District Special Enforcement Officer.
Addressing the media here on June 22 (Wednesday), Mr. Prasad said the SEB police also arrested Jonnalagadda Leela Kumar on charges of smuggling the NDPL and maintaining a stock of it.
On a tip-off, the District Task Force team led by SEB Circle Inspector N. Nixon and officer D. Prabhakar raided the house of Leela Kumar in Srinivas Nagar Bank Colony, and seized about 25 brands of the liquor, Mr. Prasad said.
“The accused has allegedly sold a few bottles in retail. We are trying to find out the origin and the bulk customers, if any, from Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
“Leela Kumar is procuring liquor of different brands at a lesser price from Haryana and selling the same at higher rates in Andhra Pradesh. He brought liquor stocks twice earlier,” said Mr. Prabhakar.
