Lipreader unveils Kate Middleton's flirty exchange with Prince William at US basketball game

A lip reader has claimed to have sussed out a flirty conversation between the Prince and Princess of Wales while they were attending a basketball game in the US.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a basketball game between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 30 during their tour of the US.

The couple were joined by Massachusetts Governor-elect Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, writes The Daily Star.

The Prince and Princess of Wales' faces were shown on the big screen to the crowd as more “USA!” chants echoed - before both royals grinned and waved.

And they seemed to have a good time as they laughed and smiled at each other, appearing to have a flirty exchange which has now been revealed by lip-reading expert, Jeremy Freeman (BAMPS).

According to Freeman, the interaction went as follows: "Kate says: I’d have to be better to play.

"Will covers his mouth when replying.

"Kate says: I’m just as good as you.

"Will says: No I’d say (covers mouth) Excellent - it’s a definite no!

"Kate says: Why?

"Will covers his face."

The royal couple were on their first trip to the states since 2014 where they were met with boos and chants of "USA".

The incident was shared on social media, where fans of the game were quick to poke fun at the royal couple. One wrote on Twitter: "What was the Point of Dumping the Tea in the Harbor if you’re just going to invite the Royals to a Celtics game 249 years later."

ITV News' Royal editor Chris Ship suggested the backlash could be attributed to "strong Irish roots" in Boston.
