Some people watching the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony were convinced on of the royal youngsters was the subject of a bit of a telling off. They assembled to watch the first Trooping the Colour of King Charles’ reign on Saturday to mark his birthday.
William, Kate and their children were involved in Saturday’s Trooping the Colour, the first of King Charles’ reign. Louis, on the Buckingham Palace balcony, saluted during the traditional Trooping flypast and also pretended to ride a bike with his arms stretched out.
The Princess of Wales joined her children in a carriage with the Queen, travelling just behind the King, who was on horseback as part of the procession in a return to a tradition that Queen Elizabeth II stepped back from more than thirty years ago. William rode behind his father, alongside the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal, the Mirror reported.
Somne people thought they saw Sophie giving Charlotte some stern words, telling her to “sit down”. However, a professional lip reader has dismissed this and believes the pair may have in fact been talking about how much of the parade was left.
He told the Daily Star that Charlotte appears to ask Sophie: “Sophie, how long will it be?” To which the duchess replies: “I think it’s now.”
The moment came before Charles marked his first Trooping the Colour as sovereign with a Buckingham Palace balcony appearance where a boisterous Louis stole the limelight yet again. Camilla and Catherine, as royal colonels, had prominent roles in the Trooping.
Catherine wore an eye-catching green dress and hat, alluding to her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards. The Queen wore a red dress and black beret to represent her position as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.
The royals were out in force as they came together to mark the first Trooping the Colour of King Charles’ reign. Even his grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis took part by riding in a carriage to watch the impressive military ceremony at Horse Guards Parade.
