Lip Reader Reveals What Obama Seemingly Said to Make Bush Laugh at Trump Inauguration

A deaf TikTok creator known for her lip-reads decoded an interaction that left former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush smirking during President Donald Trump's inauguration Monday.

According to lip reader @itsmejackie, Obama leaned toward Bush and said, "How do we stop this from happening?" as he made his way to his seat among former presidents in the Capitol Rotunda.

The alleged question came following polite greetings and appreciative nods from Obama. Attending without former First Lady Michelle Obama, the two-term president was seated next to former First Lady Laura Bush, who he leaned across as he delivered the comment to his predecessor. A chuckle escaped former President Bush and the former first lady's grin broadened as both men worked to regain their composure.

The exchange left many viewers curious about the contents of their conversation, and followers of @itsmejackie expressed their gratitude for the reveal.

"Obama keeping it real," one said. "Obama 😂 I keep asking the same thing," a TikToker wrote, as another called it, "The question people were asking 'round the world."

While Obama has retired from political office, he's apparently retained his aptitude for banter that transcends political affiliation. Obama and Trump caused a stir recently when they appeared to be enjoying one another's company while seated side by side at former President Jimmy Carter's funeral on January 9.

No official reports have confirmed @itsmejackie's lip read, but the Bush family and Obama have vocally disapproved of Trump in the past, putting the potential plea to "stop this" well within the realm of imagination for many.
