Lions to Sign CB Cam Sutton to Three-Year Contract, per Report

The Lions and former Steelers cornerback Cam Sutton are reportedly in agreement on a three-year, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Sutton’s deal with Detroit is worth a total of $33 million and includes $22.5 million in guaranteed money.

The 28-year-old had spent the first six seasons of his NFL career in Pittsburgh, featuring in a total of 84 games for the organization and making 39 starts, including 31 starts across the last two years. The Steelers drafted him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee.

In 2022, Sutton recorded three interceptions and 15 passes defended across 16 games, a level of production he’ll hope to replicate with the Lions, who had one of the league’s worst defenses last season.

The DB had played the previous two seasons under a two-year, $9 million contract in Pittsburgh. He received a significant raise and some more stability in his new deal with the Lions, which carries an average annual value of $11 million per season.

Per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Sutton will collect $12 million in his first season in Detroit. Additionally, when he signs the contract, $9 million of the $10.5 million he'll earn in 2024 will become fully guaranteed.
