The Detroit Lions have signed rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs in advance of the team’s training camp.
The team announced the signing via its social media channels. It locks up Gibbs, the No. 12 pick in the 2023 NFL draft, for the next four seasons. As is the case with all first-round picks, the contract also includes a team option for the fifth season.
Gibbs was one of eight unsigned first-round picks at the onset of training camp around the NFL. Detroit had previously signed linebacker Jack Campbell, the No. 18 overall pick.
The speedster from Alabama is expected to play a big role in Detroit’s offense right away.
