The Arizona Cardinals did not make the postseason, so their fans get to watch the playoffs with no true rooting interest. However, there are some Cardinals-related reasons to watch because every team left in the postseason has soon-to-be free agents and some could end up offseason targets for Arizona.
The Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions play the Saturday night divisional game of the NFL playoffs, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Below are some players on Detroit’s roster scheduled to be free agents who could be potential targets for some of the Cardinals’ offseason needs.
Potentials Cardinals free agent targets on Lions
S Ifeatu Melifonwu
The Cardinals look set at safety but they could move on from Jalen Thompson because of his salary. Melifonwu only played in three games this season but in 2023 he had three sacks, two picks and eight pass breakups.
LB Derrick Barnes
Barnes is on injured reserve so he won’t play. He is six feet and 240 pounds and, in 2023, he had 81 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. He could replace Kyzir White if he doesn’t return.
DL Levi Onwuzurike
He will be 27 years old in March. He played in 16 games for the Lions this season, starting 10 games, and 28 tackles, 13 QB hits and 1.5 sacks.
