The Detroit Lions are expected to sign former Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
It’s a three-year deal worth $18 million with $11 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Bears general manager Ryan Poles made it clear back in January that he wanted Montgomery back in Chicago. But it seems like the two sides couldn’t find common ground on an extension. Now, the Bears will have to face Montgomery twice a year.

Now, the Bears will have to move on from Montgomery and look to find a complement Khalil Herbert, who’s RB1 right now.
There are some options in the free agent market. One name that the Bears are showing interest in is former Lions running back Jamaal Williams, according to Tyler Dunne.
If Chicago wanted to go the trade route, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been given permission to seek a trade. Ekeler would be a great fit for the offense the Bears run.
