Lions 2024 NFL Draft report: Bralen Trice, EDGE, Washington

It is finally draft season for Lions fans.

Brad Holmes and his front office have proven they are very capable of putting together great draft classes. They have had major hits on every day of the draft, but especially on Day Two. This roster isn’t in desperate need of much because of his work, but they do have some positions that need to be addressed.

This offseason, they should be focusing on getting better play out of their defensive backs, adding depth on the defensive line, and building out the wide receiver room.

These scouting reports should introduce you to some of the names that Lions fans could hear during the three days of the NFL Draft.

Traits and Skills

Pass Rush Plan

Bralen Trice flashes his intelligence and work ethic in every game he plays. You can tell he studies film while also being able to adjust to anything the offense audibles to. He always is processing and is always getting in the backfield to hit or sack the quarterback because of it.

Work in the Backfield

Time and again, Trice works his way into the backfield. The pure chaos he is able to create is something that alongside Hutchison would be a joy to watch. The two of them are complete edge rushers, teams can’t double-team both of them.

Power

The root of his entire success comes from the strength he plays with. He uses it to overwhelm tackles during both pass-rush scenarios and run defense. This paired with the leverage he gains makes him able to control tackles.

Fit within the Lions Roster

Bralen Trice would be the ultimate compliment to Aidan Hutchison on the defensive line. They both have a similar play style where they can be strong enough to power rush but also possess enough finesse to work light on your feet.

The upside he has is among the best in the entire edge rusher class. He has positional flexibility on top of it all which makes him a great pick for the Lions at the end of round one potentially.
