It was a big three points for the Lionesses as they managed to bounce back from a 2-0 midweek defeat at home to Dryburgh Athletic by beating Inverness CT 4-2.
Livingston started at a real pace forcing early corners and having plenty of possession but it wasn’t until the thirty first minute when the deadlock was broken by Gemma Mason.
After a ricochet the ball landed at her feet on the left channel and she placed into the far top corner from around 25 yards to put the hosts one goal up.
Livingston then extended the lead five minutes later when a wonderful through pass from Raewyn Murphy set Ashley Elizabeth through on goal who smashed in from distance past the goalkeeper to double the home sides advantage.
Inverness came out and opened up the game a little from here and got their rewards with potentially the goal of the game. The ball has fallen in the midfield after a slack pass from Sharon Hughes-Lee from right back and Millie Carr picked it up and drilled it home from near 30 yards.
The second half was a nervy affair but Livingston got another goal with Ashley Elizabeth doubling her tally for the day.
She got played in from Erin Burns and Ashley received the ball, rounded the goalkeeper got it back on her right foot and placed home from eight yards.
The nerves were evident from both teams and Inverness came back into the game again getting another goal back after some fine play down the right who played in Rhea Hossack who beat Charlotte Ferguson from a tight angle. The game could have went either way at this point but it was the Lionesses who sealed it in the 90th minute. Brogan Anderson was tripped in the box after some slack play from Inverness, Jen Dodds stepped up confidently and smashed home from 12 yards to the goalkeepers right.
A very good win for Livingston in the end sees them maintain their position at the top of the table, 8 points clear of second placed Renfrew. Up next for the Lionesses is a trip to the west on Sunday to take on Greenock Morton.
