Lionel Messi to Inter Miami transfer: David Beckham wish, PSG update, Barcelona claims

Lionel Messi may be playing his final games with Argentina but thoughts still surround where his future lies at club level.

Argentina are in the semi-final of the World Cup so that means that Messi has to play two more games and his focus will be firmly on winning the tournament, but once he returns from the competition to Paris Saint-Germain, his next move will be back on the agenda.

But what does Messi's future look like and where will he be playing his football next season?

The president of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi seems to believe that Messi will continue his career in the French capital. When asked whether he thought the Argentinian forward would stay, he said: "Definitely.

"He's very happy, you can see that with the national team. If a player's not happy you will see their performance not good for the national team. He performed fantastic this season for us, he's scored a lot of goals and assists for the national team and for the club.

"So what we agreed together - that after the World Cup, sit down together. But both sides - our side of the club and him - are very happy, so we will talk after the World Cup."

Other reports in Spain have linked Messi with a return to Barcelona when his contract expires. Messi left the Catalan club in 2020 when they were unable to register him due to their financial problems.

However, the final major option he has been linked with is a move to David Beckham's Inter Miami. Beckham's Miami franchise are managed by his former United teammate Phil Neville.

According to The Times, Messi was close to agreeing a move to the MLS franchise. However, the player's entourage were quick to shut down that the 35-year-old had agreed a deal with anyone as of right now.

So will Messi move to America? Well it seems unlikely given that he is still at the top of his game with Paris Saint-Germain, but with the six-time Ballon d'Or winner planning to wind down his international career and having already stated his desire to play in the MLS at some point before he retires then it is not completely out of the question.
