Despite the loss, Martino expressed optimism about Messi's recovery, emphasizing that the star player's health remains a top priority.
The match also saw Miami's Robert Taylor forced off with an injury in the 36th minute, adding to the team's woes on the night. Goalkeepers Drake Callender and Esteban Andrada made crucial saves for their respective teams, with Callender impressing with seven stops.
