Messi, who entered the match with nine goals in six matches for the MLS club, blew past Nashville SC defenders to deliver a jaw-dropping goal with another signature left-footed strike to put Inter Miami up 1–0.
The 36-year-old forward immediately took a lap as his teammates swarmed him with the crowd in a frenzy.

After transforming Miami’s attack upon his arrival and helping the club secure a spot in next year’s Concacaf Champions Cup, Messi now has his team one step closer to becoming the first MLS club to win the Leagues Cup.
In addition to securing a landmark trophy, a win against Nashville would also raise the stakes ahead of Messi’s MLS debut, which is set for Aug. 26 against New York Red Bulls.
