Lionel Messi has failed to score or produce an assist in his last nine appearances against Real Madrid.
The Argentinean's worrying record emerged following Paris Saint-Germain's stunning collapse against the Spanish giants in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Mauricio Pochettino's side were 2-0 up on aggregate at the Bernabeu heading into the final 30 minutes, but a dramatic hat-trick from Karim Benzema snatched the win for Real.
Messi's last goal involvement against Real was in May 2018, when he scored for Barcelona in a 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp.
It marks a poor run of form for the 34-year-old, who has scored 26 goals and produced 14 assists against Real during his glittering career.
Should Lionel Messi still be regarded as one of the best players in the world? Let us know in the comments below!
Messi is having a tough first term at PSG, scoring just seven goals in 25 appearances. He's scored at least 30 goals in every season since 2007-08.
Messi and his fellow forwards Kylian Mbappe and Neymar were slammed in the media after PSG's capitulation against Real.
"I’ve been saying this about PSG for years, the problem with them is they play in a league where they don’t have these types of games," Jason Cundy told talkSPORT.
"Across Europe they have big games, big derbies where they test you. No one tests PSG… they haven’t necessarily got to be a full tilt to win the league, they can cruise the league."
Cundy went on to say: "Neymar, I’ve been saying it for years, he’s so overrated – so overrated! They’re lazy that front three… Mbappe was brilliant first half but PSG just fell off.
"They couldn’t be bothered. Neymar, Messi and Mbappe up top… that front three could be amazing on their day and do all sorts.
"But when you’re up against it and you’re chasing back and out of possession, those three are passengers.
"Messi going to PSG – bore off! They bought Messi in just to play in the Champions League games, not to win the Ligue 1 title.
"He goes to a league where they don’t get tested ever and then he plays a game against a proper team at a proper stadium."
Cundy concluded: "They are weak when it comes to these big moments PSG, they’ve proved it time and time again… they choked again. I’m glad they’re out."
PSG have dominated Ligue 1 since Qatar Sports Investments - a subsidiary of Qatar's state-run sovereign-wealth fund - purchased the club in 2011 but are yet to win a European title.
Speaking to BT Sport, former Real midfielder Steve McManaman added: "The players are too powerful.
"They were too powerful under [ex-boss] Thomas Tuchel, too powerful under [ex-boss] Unai Emery, too powerful under this man [Pochettino].
"They can’t get told off and when the going gets tough, they do not care.
"They play where they want to play. The top three are amazing footballers but they don’t work hard, they do not work hard when the going gets tough."
