Linlithgow Rose ace Mark Stowe is dreaming of a Scottish Cup trip to Ibrox.
But the striker insists there’s no danger of the Prestonfield outfit looking past fellow East of Scotland Premier Division side Sauchie.
The two sides meet in West Lothian on Saturday with Gordon Herd’s side aiming to book a Scottish Cup fourth round place for the second time in the club’s history.
And with top flight clubs entering the competition at that stage, there’s a potential dream tie on the line if they can get beyond their opponents at the weekend.
Stowe, who bagged a treble in Linlithgow’s South Challenge Cup win over Civil Service Strollers last weekend, says the Rose are full of confidence heading into the tie but knows they’ll have to earn the right to be in the next round.
He said: “There’s real confidence in the group just now. We just take each game as it comes.
“We’ve got quite a young squad and we’re learning every week – in training and in games – just trying to take everything on board and improve.
“It’s a massive game for the club but Sauchie are a very good side who will be coming here believing they can win. It’s not going to be easy.
“The carrot for both teams is the chance to get a big game in the next round. I’d love Rangers away but we’ll see what happens. There’s nobody in the group taking their eyes off the ball. All the focus is on this weekend but there is obviously a huge chance for the club to get an incredible draw.”
The club have been spurred on by bumper crowds in their first and second round wins over Lowland League sides Berwick Rangers and Spartans respectively and the frontman has
called on the town to turn up to Prestonfield in their droves and help their team over the line.
He commented: “Sauchie are flying just now and I think it could be a 50/50 game. That’s where the fans can maybe turn things in your favour.
“We’ve had a great turnout in the previous rounds and we really hope they can come out again in their numbers and support us and hopefully we can go out there and do the business on the park.”
