Linfield boss David Healy provides Ross Larkin update after "difficult time" for player

Linfield boss David Healy has confirmed that Ross Larkin is unlikely to return to action this season as he continues to receive “expert care” after a recent hospital procedure.

He also said the 22-year-old defender, who last featured for the Blues in early-December, continues to be in the “thoughts and prayers” of everyone at Windsor Park.

In a statement posted on the Linfield website on Monday night, Healy said it had been a “difficult time” for the Larkin family.

He added: “Ross is not expected to return to action this season but he is recovering and continues to receive appropriate treatment.

“Linfield would like to place on record our appreciation for the expert care Ross continues to receive from the medical professionals.

“Everyone at the club wishes Ross a full and speedy recovery and we are all thinking of him and his family at what has been a difficult time for them all.”

Healy said Linfield football club remains in regular contact with Ross and his father and has “passed on the many messages of concern and support forwarded to us for Ross”.

He added: “I can assure everyone that the Larkin family have greatly appreciated all the genuine support that has been forthcoming.

“Ross continues to be in all our thoughts and prayers and I know that I can also say that on behalf of all our supporters.”

On December 18, Healy told the Linfield website that Larkin was set to undergo a planned medical "procedure” the following week.

Larkin, who was capped by Northern Ireland at U21 level, has made 28 appearances for Linfield since joining the club from Portadown in 2019.
