Linfield boss David Healy has hailed Jimmy Callacher as a “leader and winner” after the defender signed a new contract with the club.
Callacher, who joined the Blues from Glentoran in 2014 and has played 334 games for the club, has penned a one year extension.
It is a major boost for Healy to hold onto the 30-year-old who has been one of the standout centre-backs in the Irish League in recent years.

Confirming the news on the Linfield website, Healy said: “I’m delighted to advise our supporters that Jimmy Callacher has today agreed a new one year contract extension.
“Jimmy proved his worth at the club yet again last season, playing in 37 of the 38 league games and again being named in the NI Football Awards Team of the year.
“He made a major contribution to our team’s success in the past year and his presence and influence were a significant help in managing a number of changes at the club over the past year.
“He’s a leader and a winner and I’ve no doubt this news will be well received by all of our supporters.
"Jimmy is very popular with supporters and within the dressing room. He’s club vice captain and he knows all about the expectations, pressures and demands at this club.
“He’s looking forward to the challenges of the new season and I’m delighted that we’ve concluded and reached agreement on the important contract discussions today.”
Callacher’s new contract comes four days after young striker Ethan Devine also signed an extension - until 2025 - with the Blues.
Chris McKee, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Linfield, is also being linked with a permanent move to the Irish League champions after parting company with Rangers.
It is understood Glentoran striker Robbie McDaid, who is out of contract this summer, is also on Healy's radar.
