Ever since it aired its popular sixth series last year, fans have been desperate to know whether Line of Duty will returning for a seventh series. The last series, which finally answered the question: 'Who is H?', ended ambiguously and it remains to be seen whether the BBC plans to make more.
Now, star Adrian Dunbar, who plays Ted Hastings, has offered a promising update on the status of the series. Adrian has been in Line of Duty since it began in 2012. Co-stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure, who have also been in the series since it started, have both previously said they'd be keen to make more episodes.
Created and written by Jed Mercurio, Line of Duty is critically acclaimed and one of the BBC's most popular dramas. The final episode of series six broke records for the broadcaster and with 12.8 million viewers, it became the most watched drama (excluding soaps) since modern records began in 2002. But what did Adrian have to say about its potential return?

Talking to Radio Times ahead of his new ITV drama Ridley, Adrian said that "there’s been talk about a movie or a four-parter or two 90 minute [episodes of Line of Duty]" before adding: "We’d love to do it again. I’m really hoping something might happen next year."
Adrian, who is in new ITV drama Ridley which airs on Sunday, August 28, confirmed that there's "something in Jed's laptop – a couple of templates as to how things could go", and he regularly speaks to his co-stars about working together again.
"We’re always talking about stuff. Vicky [McClure] and her fella Jonny Owen have their own production company now. We’d love to do something all together one day."
Line of Duty follows DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), an authorised firearms officer who is transferred to Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) after refusing to agree to cover up an unlawful shooting by his own team. At AC-12 Arnott is partnered with DC Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), a highly commended undercover officer with a keen investigative instinct.
They work under the supervision of Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), uncovering corruption within the fictional Central Police Force. Throughout the six series, AC-12 investigate seemingly disparate cases involving seemingly corrupt police officers and their connection to the Organised Crime Unit (OCG).
Line of Duty Series 1-6 is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Watch Adrian in new ITV drama, Ridley, on ITV at 8pm on Sunday, August 28
