Lindstrom, Felix: 4 players Arsenal will scout at the World Cup ahead of January transfer window

Arsenal went five points clear at the top of the Premier League on Saturday as captain Martin Odegaard scored a brace at Molineux to help clinch a 2-0 win over Wolves. The three points means that the Gunners will be in pole position at Christmas for the first time since 2007.

Although they're arguably the one club that won't be overly excited about the league coming to a six-week halt as a result of the World Cup, Mikel Arteta will be planning ahead as his side aim to mount a title charge.

Arsenal need to add depth to their squad in January if they're going to continue their fine form. Some of their targets will be on display at the competition, so let's take a look at who their scouting department could be following closely.

Youri Tielemans

Tielemans will be available on a free transfer next summer but with Arsenal keen to add midfielders to their ranks in January, they may wish to test Leicester's patience with an early bid. They've been linked with a move for the Belgian star for some time, but have never acted on that interest.

Ruben Neves

The Wolves’ playmaker could be the perfect fit for Arteta’s system and his long-term future at Molineux is still up in the air. The Portugal star is expected to play an important part for his side in Qatar.

Joao Felix

The Gunners have been loosely linked with a move for Felix as they look to add additional firepower in the forward's department. Gabriel Jesus has been Arteta's go-to man, but the Brazilian hasn't scored since October 1, meaning adding another well-known striker might be on Arteta's wish list.

Jesper Lindstrom

Reports in September suggested that the Gunners were pushing for a move for the Danish international. He then spoke about a potential move and admitted he was flattered by the rumours: “It’s a huge confidence boost," Lindstrom told Tipsbladet when asked about the reports linking him to Arsenal. "It’s one of the biggest things as a footballer, so I’m obviously very happy.

“It is hard not to read along when articles appear on your Facebook, Instagram and other social media. So of course, I read it, but I don’t take it too seriously. The transfer window is not open at all right now, so I’m just giving it my all and waiting to see what happens.

“It’s always great to play in the biggest league in the world, but whether Arsenal is right for me is hard to say. Right now, I’m in a good place in Frankfurt, but it’s great that there are clubs like them that are watching me. Something may have to happen at some point, but right now I’m fine.”
