Lindsey Pearlman, an actress who appeared on General Hospital, Chicago Justice, The Ms Pat Show and Vicious, has been found dead aged 43.
Five days after she went missing, her body has been found in LA.
In a statement the LAPD said that officers in the Hollywood Area responded to a radio call at Franklin Avenue and North Sierra Bonita Avenue over a death investigation at 8.30am on Friday.
"The LA County Coroner’s Office has since confirmed the individual to be Lindsey Erin Pearlman. The cause of death will be determined by the coroner," the statement read.
Her husband Vance Smith, posted on Instagram : "The police found Lindsey. She’s gone. I’m broken.
"I will share more later, but I wanted to thank everyone for their love and efforts and ask you to respect the privacy of her family at this time."
Michael Chiaverini, the star's agent, said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by Lindsey Pearlman’s passing today.
“The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time while they process and grieve.”
He said donations could be made in her honour to Santé D’Or Foundation, an animal rescue and adoption charity.
Her cousin, Savannah Pearlman, paid tribute to her on twitter.
she posted: "I'm deeply sad to report that they have found Lindsey, and it was too late."
"Lindsey was a fierce animal advocate and a talented actress."
Fans have flooded twitter with messages after the star's death was announced.
One wrote: "Losing Lindsey Pearlman is desperately sad she was a fine woman and an animal rights campaigner."
Another put: "So sad, RIP Lindsey Pearlman my thoughts go to her family."
Elaine Hendrix, who portrayed Meredith Blake in The Parent Trap, paid tribute to her friend on twitter.
She posted: "Thank you to everyone who shared Lindsey's missing person report. I'm deeply saddened & stunned to share that she was found deceased.
"There's no further info to share at this time. Pls send her friends & family love."
