Lindsey Burrow's heroic Marathon run surpasses 10x more than initial target

Before running her first Marathon, Lindsey Burrow hoped to raise £7,777 for the Motor Neurone community as she set out on a quest to help fund money for the new Rob Burrow MND Centre to help other patients like her Leeds Rhinos legend husband and families like theirs.

Forty-eight hours after she crossed the line at Headingley Stadium, people have pledged nearly £80,000 to her Just Giving Page as tributes pour in across the world to Lindsey for the work she is doing for MND and her husband, Rob. A remarkable achievement by a remarkable women is the best quote used on social media.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after finishing the event, she was flabbergasted at the amount of support that has been shown since she announced she'd be running her first-ever 26.2-mile race.

"It was just such a special occasion. I've just pulled up at work, and I've had so many text messages saying, 'Have you seen your JustGiving page?

"Honestly, I'm absolutely lost for words. I'm quite emotional actually thinking about it. I'm just a working mum, and I know obviously Rob's wife, but that will make a real difference (to the MND charity)."
