Linda Robson says she and Pauline Quirke are best friends and 'have never fallen out'

Linda Robson has dismissed rumours of a bust-up with “best friend” Pauline Quirke, and said Birds of a Feather could return.

The 64-year-old actress said: “It’s a load of old sh** that we had a fallout.

“We have not fallen out and we have never fallen out.

“I have been best friends with her since we were 10 years of age. We never fell out.”

Linda was reunited with Pauline, 62, and their co-star in Birds of a Feather Lesley Joseph, 76, last week.

They had lunch and discussed the possibility of a comeback for the hit sitcom.

Linda said: “I was out for lunch with Pauline last Friday in London, The Delaunay, and it was discussed.”

The show ran on BBC1 from 1989 to 1998, and was revived by ITV in 2014, running until 2020.

Speaking at talent agent Jonathan Shalit’s party to mark the 30th anniversary of his InterTalent firm, Linda said: “It is now up to ITV, isn’t it?

“It started on BBC and then we went to ITV. We could go to the BBC, but our loyalty is with ITV as they took us back after all that time.”

Rumours of a feud emerged after Pauline quit her role as Sharon Theodopolopodous in 2017, leaving Linda and Lesley to carry on the show without her. At the time, it was said that Pauline had left because she wanted to “concentrate on her acting academy”.

The last Birds of a Feather episode was a 2020 Christmas special, which, despite Pauline’s absence, was watched by 7.9 million people. It is not known if Pauline would return if the BBC or ITV recommissioned the show.

Linda and Pauline played bickering sisters Sharon and Tracey, with Lesley as their friend, Dorien.
