Jose Miranda surely won’t be throwing away his shot for the Minnesota Twins.
On Monday, the Twins called up Miranda for his first-ever stint at the MLB level. Normally, a call up of a top prospect to the big leagues is neat, but not really noteworthy in baseball circles. For Miranda, however, things are just a bit different, as you may be familiar with his cousin, the creator of Hamilton Lin-Manuel Miranda!
Yes, seriously, the two are cousins! Talk about a crazy talented family right there. On Tuesday, Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted his congratulations to his cousin in a short but incredibly wholesome tweet.
I got a cousin in the Major Leagues! Felicidades Primo! All the Mirandas are cheering! -LMM https://t.co/jCs29QpFNH

How sweet! In his first game on Monday, Jose Miranda went 0-for-4 at the plate, but is set to be back in for the Twins on Tuesday at first base.
Hilariously though, it seems Miranda has never seen one of his cousin’s shows!
Maybe when the Twins roll through New York in September, if Miranda’s bat keeps him in the mix. That would also give him time to see one of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s plays, which he admits, he hasn’t had the chance to — yet.
Given Hamilton‘s incredible success on Broadway over the years, Miranda will certainly have the time in between baseball seasons.
