Lily Collins has become a mother after welcoming a baby girl via surrogate, the actress announced on Friday.
The 34-year-old daughter of Genesis legend Phil Collins shared the news on Instagram alongside husband Charlie McDowell, revealing they had named their daughter Tove Jane.
"Welcome to the center of our world," Collins wrote. "Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again."
The couple's surrogate gave birth earlier this week in Northern California, where McDowell's mother Mary Steenburgen and stepfather Ted Danson were spotted visiting the newborn.
Collins and filmmaker McDowell, who married in Colorado in 2021, had kept their surrogacy plans private until after the birth. However, McDowell hinted at their family plans last October, telling E! News: "We would like to move into that next stage, so we'll see when it happens!"
Their daughter's unique first name appears to have special meaning for the couple. Collins recently hosted a podcast about Finnish author Tove Jansson's Moomin series, which she described as deeply influential in her life.
The pair first met in 2019 when Collins was cast in McDowell's planned film Gilded Rage. While the project never materialised, it sparked their romance.
