Lily Allen wins gong for theatre stint as she returns to Instagram after pizza row

Lily Allen revealed she's thrilled to win a top acting award after she recently returned to Instagram.

The popstar-turned-actress sensationally quit the social media sat following a row with a fan about a pizza restaurant.

Best known as a singer and songwriter, the 36-year-old Hammersmith born star has recently turned her hand to acting on-stage in theatre productions.

Last year she took the plunge in the world of acting when she portrayed the role of a woman who is convinced her house is haunted in 2:22 – A Ghost Story.

And last night her hard work paid off as she won best performer in a female identifying role in a play for the role at What's On Stage, while her co-star, former EastEnders actor Jake Wood, won best supporting performer in a male identifying role in a play. 2:22 – A Ghost Story.

The play that the two actors both star in was also named best new play.

Taking to Instagram to share a set of snaps, she penned: "Pleased as punch. Thank you @whatsonstage readers for voting for me. I am over the moon.

"Doing this play was a huge leap of faith and was absolutely terrifying to begin with, but ended up being one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of my life."

Concluding: "I am honestly just so thrilled. Award Winning Actress!!!!"

Fans were quick to comment on the gong, with one writing: "I bloody knew it! SHE’S ARRIVED! #LilyTheActress."

Another then said: "Congratulations @lilyallen you deserve all the joy in the world x."

While a proud follower penned: "BRIT, Ivor Novello, Q, NME, Glamour, GQ, What’s On Stage Award winner Lily Allen has such a good ring to it."

Lily's win comes after the mother-of-two has been keeping a low profile in recent weeks after quitting Instagram following an online row with a fan.

Lily shared a picture of her disappointing takeaway pizza from Pizza Pilgrims on her Instagram stories, and wrote on the snap: “Not impressed tbh.”

She soon faced a barrage of backlash from fans, with one deciding to slam the star for sharing her opinion.

"Brutal to this business, publicly shaming them, yikes," they wrote.

Lily then replied: "They shouldn't be in the business of making pizzas if this is what their dishing out. I paid for it, I'm well within my right to express my displeasure."

The follower continued with their rant, saying that the singer-turned-actor had “lot of influence” and should have contacted Pizza Pilgrims privately to express her complaint.

“Maybe an inbox to their Instagram would be enough, a post like this could end them,” they added.

“If you think I shouldn't complain about s**t on my platform, block, restrict or unfollow me,” Lily fumed.

“The world is annoying as f**k sometimes, and I'm not here for all that ass kissing cloutathon nonsense. If you can't call out a s**t pizza on here we're all doomed,” she added, before seemingly deleting her account.
