Rapper Lil Uzi Vert has announced that he has quit making music.
Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supports, but I’m done with music. I deleted everything. I wanna be normal... I wanna wake up in 2013.”
The rapper had been working on his second studio album, Eternal Atake, which he recently stated was near completion, leading fans to express concern that he deleted all the recordings made so far.
The Philadelphia rapper signed to Atlantic Records in 2014, following two self-released projects, Purple Thoughtz Vol. 1 and The Real Uzi. Under Atlantic, he released his Luv is Rage mixtape, followed by Lil Uzi Vert vs The World and The Perfect Luv Tape.
His debut album, Luv is Rage 2, charted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with the single “XO Tour Llif3” reaching No. 7 on the chart. He also appeared on the Migos single “Bad and Boujee”.
A representative for Atlantic Records has been contacted for comment.
