Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has hit out at West Ham United goalkeeper Alphonse Areola for his role in Nayef Aguerd’s own goal at Old Trafford.
The Hammers exited the FA Cup at the fifth round stage on Wednesday night at the hands of 3-1 defeat to United, despite going ahead in the second half through Said Benrahma.
With 13 minutes remaining, Aguerd inadvertently headed into his own net past Alphonse Areola to level the tie, with the French goalkeeper not getting near to the ball at the end of a Bruno Fernandes corner.

Keane, whose playing career included 480 United appearances between 1993 and 2006, was far from impressed with Areola at the set-piece and joked that instead of rushing out and dealing with the cross, the goalkeeper’s approach was as laid back as if he were in a coffee shop.
“The keeper has got to come out there - a goalkeeper coach I used to work with used to say, come out with violence,” Keane told ITV .
“Then they have a little discussion afterwards like they are in Starbucks. Come out with violence! That’s your job!”
United have now been handed an FA Cup quarter-final tie at home against Fulham, a side West Ham beat at the London Stadium earlier in the season.
