Thunder and lightning is expected in Wales this weekend, according to the Met Office. The lightning is expected to be just a short break in the hot and sunny weather that the nation has been enjoying.
The lightning forecast comes as Met Office has issued a heat health alert in parts of Britain this weekend. Wales is expected to see daytime temperatures of between 21 to 23 degrees on Saturday and Sunday according to the forecaster, making it one of the warmest weekends of the year so far.
The Met Office says people in Wales should expect it to feel "very warm" from Friday into the weekend with a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday. The current forecast for Wales for the weekend reads: "Long sunny spells on Friday once early morning cloud clears. Becoming windy. Feeling very warm with temperatures climbing. Chance of heavy showers, perhaps thundery on Saturday and into Sunday."

The BBC weather's outlook for Saturday to Monday also predicts that we will experience thundery weather, with lightning currently forecasted for Saturday, June 10, from 3pm and next Tuesday, June 13, between 1pm and 4pm.
Forecast maps from the Met Office suggest that particular areas that will be affected by the thunder weather on Saturday include Aberystwyth, Llandovery and Builth Wells.
However the BBC's forecast predicts that the lightning will also hit Cardiff at around 3pm on Saturday.
The BBC weather predicts: "Areas of cloud and showers will develop and sweep in from the south-west early on Saturday, these heavy and possibly thundery in places.
"Some likely persisting overnight too. Further showers are expected on Sunday, some falling heavy and thundery, but with sunny spells in between. Sunny spells on Monday with further showers, these likely lighter than previously. Trending warm."
According to the Met Office, the unsettled weather stems from a warm plume of air from the south, which has raised temperatures and is set to introduce some thundery showers. The high pressure area which has been responsible for the last couple of weeks of settled weather for much of the UK will drift away towards Scandinavia, allowing a plume of warm air from the south to influence the weekend weather for much of the UK.
Storm Oscar, which has been named by the Spanish Meteorological Service (AEMET), will not be impacting the UK, however it will help to drive the warm plume of air into southern areas. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said: "Temperatures will rise later this week and into the weekend, with a plume of warm air being drawn in from the south. Temperatures over the weekend could peak around 30°C in some parts of England and remain well above average during night-times.
"Coupled with the rise in temperatures is an increase in the likelihood of some potentially heavy and thundery showers, which could bring some localised disruption in the far southwest from as early as late Friday, but more likely more widely into the weekend, though it is not possible to be definitive about exact details this far from the potential event."
