Liffey Valley shopping centre staff are to take to the streets of Dublin city next week in protest at the parking charges at place in the shopping centre.
In an escalation of the protest that has been ongoing since October they will be bringing it to the city centre this coming Monday, January 30. The staff will begin their protest at the Jim Larkin statue on O'Connell before going to the Hines Real Estate headquarters on Sir John Rogerson's Quay.
A paid parking system was introduced to Liffey Valley on 17 October 2022 with staff being charged €2.50 a day - around €600 per year for full time staff - to use a designated car park. But if the car park is full staff may be required to use the customer parking with a charge of €12.50 a day or up to €3,600 a year.

With the support of Mandate trade union they have been fighting the charges since October last year. But Liffey Valley management have said in the past that the new parking system is working "positively".
One employee previously told Dublin Live that she is "very upset" about how staff are being treated. She said: "It's going to be €2.50 per day which works out at around €600, €650 a year if you're full time. That's a huge chunk of your wages. It's another expense on top of the bills and energy increases."
