The family of a woman who was mauled to death by dogs has released a heartbreaking tribute in her memory.
Ann Dunn died after being attacked in a home in Vauxhall, Liverpool, on Monday, October 3. At the time of the incident, police and paramedics rushed to the scene, however, she was pronounced dead a short time after they arrived.
Following this, officers seized five American bulldogs that were then "humanely destroyed". Ms Dunn, who worked as a cleaner at Liverpool John Moores University, has received a flurry of tributes, with a statement from Merseyside Police on behalf of her family, the Liverpool Echo reports.
"Our one in a million mum. Life will never be the same without you," the family said alongside a picture of Ms Dunn.
A spokesperson from Liverpool John Moores said: "The university community is absolutely shocked and devastated by this tragic loss and to lose Ann in this way is just heart-breaking. Ann was hard-working and dedicated and had so many friends across the organisation.
"It’s just awful and she will be terribly missed. Our thoughts at this time are with her family and loved-ones."
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being the owner of a dangerous dog and has since been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.
According to Merseyside Police, a post-mortem exam will take place. Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: "This is clearly a very distressing incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the lady who died. Our enquiries remain ongoing as we seek to establish what has happened and I would urge anyone who could assist our enquiries to get in touch."
