Residents in Beeston Rylands say the area is convenient due to its close transport links. Following recent research by NiceAreas.co.uk, Beeston Rylands is ranked as one of the best places to live in Nottingham due to being close to the train station.
The Nottinghamshire suburb was ranked second of the top areas to live near a train station, following Carlton which was at the top of the list. With the neighbouring the Beeston station, people in the Rylands say that the area is ‘well connected’.
As well as being convenient for travel, many say the Rylands is also a lovely place to live with a good community. Pavan Theertham, 22, who is a sales assistant at Rylands Topshop, told Nottinghamshire Live about the useful transport links around the area. ”It’s actually pretty handy if you want to travel to other cities,” said Mr Theertham.

“The tram stop is walkable and the bus links are regular on every street - there’s three bus stops on this street. It’s well connected. It’s peaceful around here, not too much traffic. It’s more of a residential area," Pavan added.
After living on the Rylands for around 47 years, Gayle Tebbutt, 70, spoke highly of the train station and also highlighted the lovely community that the Rylands has. She said: “Beeston station is brilliant, the train station is absolutely brilliant for us. The trams are too far away to get to, the buses could do with being a bit more regular, lots of elderly people, so they rely on buses. You can go back and forwards to shopping, and to Nottingham.
“But going back to the trains lately they have changed, I used to go to Matlock and they were every hour and they have stopped now, so we have to change at Derby and it’s an hour each way, '' she said.
“Trams are for if you want to go to Nottingham from Beeston - but I don't go that often. That’s about it for transport - the road could do with being done, you could improve the pavements as being to walk to the transports. So people could walk to the buses safely. As a community it’s fantastic - we look after each other. It’s a lovely community.”
Aquarius Leung, 50, who works at a warehouse at Boots, moved to the Rylands last October, she also thinks highly of the transport as it is so convenient.
She said: “The train, tram and bus - I have travelled by these. I feel that it’s so convenient the transport is. The trams go into the city, I go to church on a Sunday and I go by the trams. I like living here.”
