Liel Abada sparks more Celtic injury woe as Israeli joins Jota in treatment room after knee blow

Celtic's injury woes have continued as Liel Abada was replaced just shy of half-time in their match with RB Leipzig.

The Hoops attacker was handed a start in the Champions League clash but suffered what looked like a collision of knees with 39 minutes on the clock. The attacker initially looked to come back on but was unable to run off the knock. The Israel international is the latest blow following Callum McGregor's injury last week in Germany against the Bundesliga side while Jota missed out on the game this evening. Carl Starfelt is another player who remains out long-term.

The 21-year-old was replaced by the experienced James Forrest who came off the bench for his 450th appearance for the club. Abada's availability for the weekend clash with Hibs will now come into question with the Israeli heading straight up the tunnel after hobbling off.

Speaking about Jota on Monday, Postecoglou said: "It's not unusual for someone to be sore the day before a game when we have such a quick turnaround in games.

"But it is just a matter of whether or not he's right. If he's right, we will play him, but if not, he will miss out."
