Liel Abada post-Celtic Premier League seal of approval as exit talk addressed by ex-Liverpool star

Liel Abada's next move from Celtic must be to the English Premier League says an Israeli football legend.

Former Liverpool favourite Yossi Benayoun, who also turned out for Chelsea and Arsenal, says the highly-rated Hoops winger is destined for the big time down south but admits 'something changed' this season for the 21-year-old. Abada has suffered injuries this season for Ange Postecoglou's side but hasn't featured since the tail end of March having been in healthy competition with the likes of Daizen Maeda and Jota for a place in the starting eleven.

Abada seems to be a hot prospect for teams across the globe and was available to face Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final last weekend but did not feature and was not amongst the substitutes.

He said: "I hope and believe Liel Abada will play in the Premier League. This season, he was on a crazy run of goals and suddenly something changed.

"There was speculation about him leaving and his manager rotated a lot. But if he gets stability and a run of games, he will show why he is destined for the English Premier League.

"Celtic are a big club, but when you play in Scotland to try and win a move to a better league, you have to do it from there.

"What I mean is when he leaves Celtic, if he were to go to another club in Europe at the same level of league, then he would probably not get to England. He needs to go to the English Premier League for his next move."

Ajax and Southampton are among the names touted for Abada's signature with chief Avi Luzon at Abada's former club Maccabi Petah Tikva, who secured £3.5million for his services from Celtic in 2021, claiming the youngster had knocked back a new deal and looks set to leave in the summer.
