The price of milk is set to be cut in Lidl despite the rising cost of groceries over the past year.
Lidl announced on Friday that it is cutting the price of a two-litre carton of milk by 10c - from €2.29 to €2.19
The price cuts will come into effect in Lidl stores across Ireland from Saturday, April 29.

The budget supermarket is the first Irish retailer to reduce the price of milk after many British supermarkets also cut milk costs earlier this month.
Milk has seen unprecedented fluctuation in price over the past year due to the increased cost of production.
In February 2022, a two-litre carton of milk in Lidl cost just €1.69 but that increased by 60c over a year to €2.29.
Lidl Ireland made the announcement, saying the move will effectively be passing €2.7 million in savings directly on to its shoppers in Ireland.
Announcing the price reduction J.P. Scally, Chief Executive Officer of Lidl Ireland & Northern Ireland said: "The past few months have posed significant challenges with rising inflation and the cost-of-living crisis, and we know this has been tough for our shoppers as well as our suppliers.
"Our team have been consistently looking for ways to increase efficiencies and reduce costs in our own operations to help absorb these additional costs as best as possible.
"That being said, there has recently been some reduction in the cost of milk production, and we’re pleased to be in a position to be the first retailer in Ireland to reflect this reduction in our milk prices in store, further underscoring our commitment to always being the best value retailer in the country. All our milk is sourced in Ireland, and we take great pride in working with the best producers on the island."
