Lidl shoppers rush to buy ‘Oodie dupe’ that saves more than £50

The Oodie is the Ninja air fryer of the cosy loungewear world, and as expected, it comes with a luxury price tag, too. And so, to help shoppers get the look and stay warm for less, Lidl has launched a hooded blanket to rival the Aussie brand for a fraction of the cost.

With temperatures dropping and energy bills rising, many Brits have been looking for ways to ‘heat the human, not the home’, and these oversized hoodies have proven to be extremely popular in recent months.

While Oodie’s version comes in at around £64, they can cost up to £89. Lidl’s own brand hoodie blanket costs around 80 per cent less, priced at £12.99, saving shoppers a huge sum.

A budget-busting Oodie alternative launched in stores yesterday (January 12), with a variety of colours and sizes available. Shoppers could pick up five Lidl blankets for the price of one Oodie, offering a pocket-friendly alternative that will keep the whole family cosy for less this winter.

Lidl’s unisex plush jumper boasts the signature oversized style and fluffy material, which can help keep shoppers warm without reaching for the thermostat.

But if a hooded blanket isn’t for you, Lidl shoppers can also pick up the Esmara Plush Poncho for less than a tenner. The armless twist on the wearable blanket offers a comfortable slip-on style and a round neckline, available in zebra print and black.

Alternatively, for those looking for full-body attire, the Esmara Ladies Onesie is £14.99, while little ones are covered with the Pepperts Kids Onesie, priced at £7.99.

As well as saving on big name brands, these cosy essentials from Lidl will mean you won't have to have the heating on as high or as often, which could prove beneficial when the energy bills come through, too. Customers can pick up the full range of cosy clothing in store now, available while stocks last.

But, if it is an Oodie you’ve got your heart set on, now is the time to get one, as the website currently has a huge winter sale on, where you can save up to £35 on the original Oodie.

For example, the Breakfast Buddies Oodie was originally £89, but has been reduced to £54 for a limited time. You can shop the Oodie sale online here.
