A woman has taken to the internet for advice from fellow Lidl shoppers after running into an awkward situation in store recently.
The mother-of-two explained that she was doing her weekly shop with the kids in tow in a busy Lidl branch when she approached the checkout with a very full basket.
She said there were two lanes available to customers and so she joined the line. As she waited, another belt opened to cope with the queues and so she joined that shorter queue instead.

A man with just four or five items was standing behind her, so she beckoned him to jump ahead of her - because she had so many items to pack and pay for.
In her Reddit post on the popular forum ‘Am I The A**hole,’ she continued: “Just then, another guy sidles up with his basket of 4 or 5 items and catches my eye with an expectant look, as if waiting for me to tell him to jump ahead too.
“I gave him a non-committal, closed-lip smile and began loading my own stuff on the belt.
“Guy gave a weird nose-sigh and I could feel his eyes burning into my back the whole time.
“Am I an a**hole for not letting him jump ahead too? I did have a full trolley, but I move fast and if I let him go ahead, where do I stop!?”
People quickly jumped to her defence with one writing: “This, as someone else said, it's similar to driving where you let one person take a turn and then you continue on your way otherwise you'll just be holding up the traffic behind you.”
Another said: “Yeah I got caught with the same before. I’d imagine a lot have but I just said I’ll be here all day if I don’t check out and ignored eyes burning. Nta”
People then started sharing similar stories of their supermarket woes, as one person revealed: “The one that drives me up the wall is when you’re halfway through unpacking your trolley and the absolute dope behind you starts unpacking theirs, so you end up with everything you’re buying piled up on into a 1 metre long section of the conveyor belt.”
Another said: “I was in line with my purchases and I put the divider thing behind the customer ahead and in front of the customer behind. I realised I left a big gap behind the customer ahead so i went to push my stuff up.
“The guy behind me grabs my hand as I went to push the dividers up and said I have a load of shit here to put on. I still have no idea what his issue was. I didn't touch his stuff at all, merely pushed my stuff up the conveyor belt.”
