Lidl pulls cheese from fridges and tells shoppers 'do not eat it'

Lidl customers are being urged not to eat a packaged cheese product that has now been pulled from store fridges.

The supermarket has warned shoppers that a grated cheese item has been recalled as a precaution. This is because the products may "be unsafe" due to "the potential presence of pieces of plastic" in them.

A Lidl notice reads: "Lidl GB is recalling Simply Grated Cheddar, 500g with Best Before Date 23/12/2022 due to the potential presence of pieces of plastic in the product, which makes this product unsafe to eat.

"If you have bought the above mentioned product we advise you not to eat it. Instead, return it to a Lidl GB store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.

"Other Simply products and Best Before Dates are not affected by this recall. Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
