Lidl, Poundland, Argos, Dunelm and B&Q to close all stores to mark Queen's funeral

Multiple major retailers have recently announced they will be closing the doors to all store branches next week to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The late British monarch passed away peacefully at the Royal Family summer home Balmoral Castle on Thursday, September 8. Her funeral has been arranged for Monday, September 19 at 11am, which has now been officially designated as a bank holiday by King Charles III.

Following the announcement, multiple major retailers and supermarkets announced a change to their normal operating hours as a mark of respect for the Queen.

The Daily Record previously reported that multiple big name companies across Scotland and the rest of the UK would either be closing or reducing their hours to allow colleagues and customers to mourn the Queen's passing. Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi will be closing for four hours between 10am and 2pm. John Lewis, Waitrose and Primark have all confirmed they will be closing their doors for the entire day.

Lidl, Poundland, Argos, Dunelm and B&Q have become the latest big-name retailers to announce they will be closing their doors to all branches and other services on Monday, September 19.

Here is what all the latest retailers have announced they will be doing for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II next Monday, September 19.

The budget supermarket chain has recently confirmed it will be closing the doors to all branches across Scotland, England and Wales next Monday.

A spokesperson for the supermarket commented: "We can confirm that as a mark of respect and in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, we will be closing all of our stores across England, Scotland and Wales for the day of Her Majesty's funeral, Monday 19th September.

"We are grateful to all Lidl customers for their understanding and will be keeping all who mourn Her Royal Highness in our thoughts during this time."

Poundland

Poundland have also confirmed they will be closing the doors to all 770+ stores on Monday, September 19, as a mark of respect for the Queen.

The budget retailer said they "know how important it will be that colleagues have the opportunity to pay their respects next Monday, as the country comes together to honour and celebrate the life of the Queen."

They have also confirmed that all staff members who were scheduled to work on the bank holiday will receive their full pay.

Argos

Argos will also be closing their doors to all store branches across Scotland and the rest of the UK next Monday. This will also include stores located within Sainsbury's.

Dunelm

Dunelm will be closed and most services will be temporarily suspended (PA)

Dunelm recently confirmed that they would be closing all stores, as well as pausing delivery, click and collect and customer services on Monday.

The retailer announced on social media: "On Monday 19th September, as a mark of our respect for Her Majesty The Queen, we will be closing all Dunelm stores and pausing delivery, Click & Collect and customer services.

"We will reopen on Tuesday 20th September."

M&S

Marks and Spencer has confirmed that they will be closing their stores and that their customer delivery services won't be running next Monday.

Franchise stores at travel locations and in public areas such as hospitals are set to remain open.

B&Q

B&Q have also made the decision to close all stores across the country on Monday next week as a mark of respect for the Queen and the Royal Family.

The DIY retailer also announced that they will be temporarily suspending their click + collect and home delivery services on September 19.
