Lidl has opened the doors to the first of its two new stores in North Lanarkshire.
Among the first customers at the new store on Mossbell Road in Bellshill were North Lanarkshire Council Leader Jim Logue and other local councillors.
The store has a 1,256m² sales area and hosts facilities such as an in-store bakery and customer toilets with a baby changing area. It also has solar panels installed on the roof and electric vehicle charging points in the associated car park.
Lidl’s second store in North Lanarkshire, which is currently being built in Airdrie, is set to open later this year.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Gordon Rafferty, commented: “Today is the first of two stores opening in North Lanarkshire and it forms part of our ongoing investment in the region, which includes the opening of Lidl’s Regional Distribution Centre in Motherwell in 2019.”
“The Bellshill store will bring even more great products and fantastic offers to the people of Bellshill, as well as showcasing some of the incredible Scottish produce we stock throughout the year.”
Lidl Bellshill will also be providing surplus food and customer donations to Kirkwood Community Aid, Clarkston Primary and Food for Thought Motherwell.
It will be delivered through Lidl’s Feed it Back scheme, which is run in partnership with Neighbourly and connects Lidl stores up and down the country with local charities, foodbanks, community cafes and kitchens.
